WTC Privacy Policy

Our Privacy Pledge to You

Protecting your privacy is extremely important to WTC and the employees who work to deliver the kinds of telecommunications services you have come to expect from us. We value the trust you have placed in us, and your continued confidence is important to us. As you review our pledge, please remember that:

  • We make safeguarding the information we gather about you a priority.
  • We maintain security practices to keep personal information about you safe.
  • We do not sell or share customer information with companies so that they can market their products to you.
  • When it comes to privacy, we believe that you have the right to make meaningful choices. If you tell us not to do so, we will not call, or send direct mail to you, to market additional products and services.
  • We will provide you with helpful information about privacy and information security. For example, we routinely provide information on how to limit telemarketers from calling you.
  • We abide by the federal rules on CPNI (Customer Proprietary Network Information) when it comes to marketing services to our customers.
  • We train our employees regularly on how to properly handle sensitive personal customer information.
  • What personal information is, and how we gather, protect and share it
  • Our pledge applies to personal information, which is nonpublic information about you that we obtain in connection with providing a telecommunications product or service.

Types of information we gather

We may gather the following types of personal information about you:

A. Information about your identity, such as your name, address, date of birth, and social security number.
B. Information about your transactions with us, our wholly-owned subsidiaries or others, such as your account balance, payment history, credit card usage and website and customer service usage;
C. Personal information we receive from you on your application for service;
D. Personal credit information we may receive from credit bureaus and other companies, such as your creditworthiness and payment history; and
E. Other information from outside sources, such as data from public records that is not gathered for the purpose of determining eligibility for a product or service.

What information we share

In order to conduct our business in a normal manner and as prescribed by the FCC and FTC, we may share information we gather with:

A. Our “affiliates” (i.e., WTC companies related to us by common control or ownership), that offer products and services to you.
B. Unrelated companies that work for us such as installation contractors, collection agencies, or billing vendors, etc. that may help us install, bill, and market products and services to you. All such companies that act on our behalf are contractually obligated to keep the information we provide them confidential and to use the information we share only to provide the services we ask them to perform for us. We do not sell or share customer information with unrelated companies so that they can market their products to you.
C. Companies and other entities permitted or required by law.

We protect the confidentiality and security of the information we gather

We restrict access to personal information about you to those employees we believe need to know that information to provide products and services to you. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to keep information about you safe.

CPNI is handled in accordance with FCC rules by WTC

A. Periodically, WTC will ask customers to tell us whether you want to allow us to use CPNI to market a product or service to you. Customers may change that designation of CPNI use at any time.
B. Customers have a right to obtain access to, and compel disclosure of, their own CPNI. If it is done by a verbal request either in person or over the phone, then WTC must authenticate that it really is that person making the request. Disclosure of CPNI can always be done in writing by the customer.
C. WTC employees are trained annually on how to handle customer CPNI.

Additional Matters

Email

We may, from time to time, contact you at an email address belonging to you to tell you of important changes or updates to our network. In addition, we contact you at an email address belonging to you to inform you of certain products and services we think may be of interest to you. At any time, you may ask us to stop sending promotional information to that email address by simply replying to our email and telling us of your preference.

Closed or inactive accounts

We will continue to follow the privacy policies and practices explained in our privacy pledge even after your account is closed or becomes inactive.

CPNI choice

Even though you may get multiple notices about CPNI, you will need to make your choice only once. Your choice remains in effect until you tell us otherwise.

Changing your CPNI election

To restrict the use of your CPNI data you may call our offices at 785-456-1000 or toll free at 1-877-492-6835 during regular business hours, or email us at info@wtcks.com.

CPNI election does not affect services.

Your denial of approval for WTC to use this data will not affect the provision of any services to which you subscribe. Your approval or denial of approval for the use of CPNI outside of the service to which you subscribe will remain valid until you revoke or limit the approval or denial.

What is CPNI?

The FFC has defined CPNI (Customer Proprietary Network Information) as:
CPNI includes where, when, and to whom a customer places a call, as well as the types of service offerings to which the customer subscribes and the extent to which the service is used.
