Fixing Internet Connection

 

The following steps turn your equipment OFF, and back ON in a specific sequence in an attempt to regain connection between your hardware.

 

  1. Shut down your computer(s).
  2. Unplug the modem’s power cord.
  3. If a router is connected, unplug the router’s power cord.
  4. Check for loose cables.
  5. Check the coaxial cable.
  6. Check the Ethernet cable.
  7. Check the USB cable, if installed.
  8. Plug back in the modem.
  9. Plug back in the router, if you're using a router.
  10. Wait three minutes for the modem to reconnect.
  11. Turn on the computer(s).
  12. Open your web browser. Then try to launch a reliable web page, such as www.wtcks.com.
